Over the past twenty years, fertility problems have increased dramatically. At least 25% of couples planning a baby will have trouble conceiving, and more and more couples are turning to fertility treatments to help them have a family.
• In Lin’s London Acupuncture Massage Clinic, she teaches women to be aware when they are most fertile which is the period before and during ovulation. Using Basal Body Temperature chart (BBT) and tracking changes in cervical mucus are methods aused to discern fertility.
• Diet and lifestyle advice such as avoiding alcohol, smoke cessation, and caffeine intake. Also based on Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis, diets will be recommended according to each individual woman’s constitution.
Lin, Acupuncturist in South West London and South East London suggests points to remember:
Couples are advised that it takes at least three months for immature eggs(oocytes) to mature enough to be released during ovulation. It also takes at least three months for sperm cells to develop, ready to be ejaculated. This means that when you are trying to improve your fertility, you need to have a four-month period before conceiving. This is called “pre-conception care” and it is as important to take as much care during this period as it is during the pregnancy itself.

The term varicose veins is used to describe distended, lengthened, or tortuous veins. These occur when the valve systems that veins rely on to move blood through the venous system becomes inefficient. Blood then pools in the vessels, leading to distension and congestion. The veins of the rectum, legs, and vulval region are often affected in pregnancy both because of the increased blood flow (due to pregnancy) that has to flow back to the heart and the valves that have become softened du e to the hormone progesterone and oestrogen. Varicose veins, haemorrhoids and vulval varicosities are termed ‘normal’ minor disorders in pregnancy. Most time the treatment is to get women to elevate their legs and to wear support stockings. However, Acupuncture can actively treat and reduce the varicosity

It is normal for women to have a white, milky, odourless and non-irritating discharge during pregnancy. This is termed leucorrhoea and this occurred normally during menstrual cycle. However, if the discharge is yellow or greenish in colour and has a thick curd-like appearance and may have an offensive odour, a discharge that is itchy or painful it indicates an infection This is often a yeast infection called candida albicans. Sometimes other causes of vaginal discharge could be gardnerella or trichomonas or gonorrhoea in which case the woman and her partner might need to be treated to prevent re-infection.
Candida is a yeast fungus that is part of the normal flora of the gut when it is in balance but sometimes it can be overwhelming and spreads causing the symptoms of vaginal thrush. Pregnancy itself could be the cause of vaginal thrush but sometimes taking too much antibiotics, steroids, dietary factors such as iron deficiency or a diet high in carbohydrates and diabetes could predispose vagina thrush
Treatment is often with antifungal vaginal suppositories, gels, ointments or creams that are inserted into the vagina.
HOW TO INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF CONCEIVING AND PREVENTING MISCARRIAGES
Acupuncture in London Southfields, Wandsworth, Wimbledon and South East London
Acupuncture treatment for fertility and infertility - men and women
In London Acupuncture Herbs Clinic, South West London - Balham, Earlsfield, Wandsworth and Wimbledon and South East London- Brockley, Forest Hill and Lewisham, Lin, Herbalist and Acupuncturist uses her knowledge of Western medicine and Traditional Chinese Natural Remedy to increase women's chances of conceiving. According to Traditional Chinese Natural Therapy, there is always an explanation for infertility. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs, being 3000 years old, can play an important role for such women who sees their chances getting slimmer as they advance in age.
Apparently, the most common cause of infertility is “unexplained” which means that following thorough investigations, doctors can find no specific or identifiable medical problem at the root. This is where acupuncture and Chinese herbs come into play. If the couple cannot become pregnant, there is obviously something causing the problem and it is not good enough labelling infertility “unexplained”. According to Traditional Chinese Herbal Remedies, all factors are taken into consideration such as nutritional deficiencies, emotional and constitutional issues.
